Members of the Alliance Democratic Party (ADP) has created history as they nominate their first female Candidate, Madam Iye Kakay, to represent them for the Presidency on the 24th June general elections.
The nomination took place at the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (EC-SL) headquarters in Freetown and was accepted by the CEC & Sierra Leone National Returning Officer Mohamed K Konneh.
“Pursuant to Sections 43 and 44 of the Public Elections Act, 2022, and having received your nomination as Presidential and Vice-Presidential candidates to whom these nomination papers relate, and to which you have stated, you are qualified for election for the offices of President and Vice President, respectively, of the Republic of Sierra Leone. By statutory declaration herein, I hereby provisionally accept your nomination for the above position, pending any objection to the Supreme Court of Sierra Leone. Congratulations”. Said Konneh.
Madam Iye Kakay was approved to run as ADP Presidential Candidate and Mr. Ambrose Franklyn Kobi as her Running Mate for the June 24, 2023 elections.
Kakay is the first woman to be selected as the ADP Presidential flagbearer since its establishment in 2015 by its Founder Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray.
