Former Minister of Social Welfare, Gender and Children’s Affairs, Alhaji Moijueh Kaikai is set to declare for the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) this Saturday, 1 April in Pujehun Town.

The A-Z Newspaper reported that the former minister was maltreated while a member of the main opposition All People’s Congress before quitting the party in 2019.

Kaikai served as a member of erstwhile President Ernest Bai Koroma’s cabinet for nearly 10 years; first a regional minister for the South, then as Deputy Minister of Labour before being appointed as Minister of Social Welfare, Gender and Children’s Affairs.

The former APC minister was relieved of his duties after an obscure audio with his deputy, Mohamed Bai Atilla went viral on social media.

His supporters believe that Kaikai was set up by his deputy who he had a no love lost relationship with.

As Sierra Leone edge towards the June 2023 elections, locals have witnessed several political crossovers in recent months.

President Bio is believed to find his stiffest opposition in the All People’s Congress (APC) Samura Kamara. The two will face each other again after the former won by a narrow margin in 2018.
