The main opposition All People’s Congress (APC) party has outlined a strategy to regroup and revitalize after a challenging 2023 elections.

A marathon National Advisory Council (NAC) meeting held on Monday, July 22nd, brought together party leaders to address the party’s future direction.

Despite the absence of the 2023 presidential candidate, Dr. Samura Kamara, the meeting produced key resolutions aimed at strengthening the party’s structure and operations.

Central to the APC’s plans is a comprehensive review of the Agreement for National Unity document. The party has committed to implementing recommendations from the Tripartite Committee on Electoral Management, Institutional, and Legal Reforms.

To ensure a more organized electoral process, the APC has introduced new timelines for membership registration and primary elections. Membership registration will now commence a year before the national delegate conference, followed by primary elections the subsequent year.

Recognizing the importance of digital communication, the party has pledged to train party-affiliated bloggers on responsible and constructive messaging. A national symposium will be held to equip bloggers with the skills to promote the APC’s agenda effectively.

To enhance grassroots engagement, the APC leadership has announced a nationwide tour to meet with party members and update them on the party’s plans. Additionally, the party will convene meetings for Public Relations Officers (PROs) at all levels to ensure consistent messaging.

Ansu Bernard has been appointed as the new National Young Congress Leader.

The party has emphasized the importance of unity and cooperation among members, calling for concerted efforts to rebuild the party and effectively address the challenges ahead.

By implementing these measures, the APC aims to position itself for future electoral success and play a more constructive role in national politics.
