The All Peoples Congress (APC) has officially announced the postponement of its scheduled rerun ward elections, following advice from the Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC).

In a public notice dated April 2, 2026, the APC National Secretariat informed its members and the general public that the rerun elections, initially slated for April 4, 2026, will no longer proceed as planned.

The decision comes after the party received formal communication from the PPRC advising against conducting the elections pending the determination of petitions submitted to the Commission.

According to the notice, the Commission urged the party “not to proceed with the conduct of any Rerun Ward Elections” until outstanding issues are resolved. The APC stated that, as a law-abiding political institution committed to due process, internal democracy, and the rule of law, it has complied with the directive.

The party expressed regret over the postponement but emphasized that the move is temporary.

It assured supporters that a new date for the elections will be announced once the necessary processes have been concluded.

Despite the delay, the APC leadership reassured its membership that the development does not undermine the party’s unity or strength. Instead, it described the situation as an opportunity to reaffirm its commitment to fairness, transparency, and institutional integrity.

The Secretariat also called on party members to remain calm, steadfast, and united during this period, noting that the APC has previously overcome greater challenges through collective discipline and resilience.

The statement was issued and signed by Lansana Dumbuya, the party’s National Secretary General, who reiterated the party’s dedication to upholding democratic principles throughout the process.

The postponement marks a significant development within the APC’s internal electoral process, as stakeholders await further updates from both the party and the PPRC regarding the resolution of the pending petitions.
