The All Peoples Congress Party (APC) has emphatically rejected the presidential results of the Sierra Leone 2023 elections, calling on the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL) to release comprehensive election data, including results per polling station across the nation.

The party maintains its firm stance, rejecting the results in all forms, and making allegations against the Chief Electoral Commissioner, accusing him of fabricating the results and pressuring District Officers to endorse them.

In a press statement, the APC party expressed its dissatisfaction with the final presidential results declared by Chief Electoral Commissioner Mohamed Konneh of the ECSL on June 26, 2023.

According to the APC, the announced results do not accurately reflect the true count of valid votes in each district. They argue that Mr. Konneh made the announcement despite the district tally centers’ results not being tallied and certified by the ECSL’s district returning officers and their party agents.

The APC party further alleges that the Chief Electoral Commissioner concocted the results and coerced District Officers to endorse them.

The statement reads, “The All Peoples Congress (APC) party hereby notifies the public that the party maintains its outright rejection of the Presidential Election results pronounced on the 26th June 2023, by Mr. Mohamed Konneh, Chief Electoral Commissioner of the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL).

“It is the position of the APC party that the final presidential results pronounced by the Chief Electoral Commissioner of the ECSL was not the true representation of the total number of valid votes cast in each District. The results announced by Mr. Konneh do not represent a true picture of results tallied at polling stations and the districts. Mr. Konneh made the pronouncement even when results in the district tally centres had NOT been tallied and certified by ECSL’s districts returning officers and our party agents.

“The APC is aware that after the announcement made by the Chief Electoral Commissioner on 26th June 2023, he then sent his concocted results and forced District Officers to sign off on them.

“The APC party understands that the Chief Electoral Commissioner of the ECSL also wants to announce a Mayoral Candidate in Freetown based on a pattern of concocted results which do not also reflect the true representation of the valid votes cast. The APC party hereby strongly warns the Chief Electoral Commissioner of the ECSL not to make such pronouncement as it would create chaos in this country.

“The APC party urges the Chief Electoral Commissioner of the ECSL to ensure that the votes cast for the presidential and Mayoral Candidates be counted, verified and certified by polling stations. with the full participation of our party’s agents and observers – both local and international, before the mayoral results are pronounced.

“Once again, the APC hereby insists that those presidential results are not credible and we do not accept those results, without it being verified and certified by our party representatives and observers. We would deploy every effort to ensure that the will of the people is protected.”
