Former All People’s Congress (APC) Publicity Secretary Cornelius Deveaux has in a Letter called on the party to shake off the dust of recent electoral setbacks and unite for the upcoming 2028 presidential elections.

Reflecting on the fifteen months since the June 24, 2023, elections, Deveaux emphasized the need for a renewed sense of purpose within the party.

Deveaux acknowledged the challenges faced by the APC, including internal divisions and a lack of cohesion, which he believes could jeopardize the party’s chances in the next election.

He urged party members to move beyond mere membership verification and registration, highlighting the importance of addressing deeper issues that have hindered progress.

The past fifteen months have left us feeling stuck,” he stated, “and if we do not confront these challenges with sincerity, the 2028 election could slip through our fingers.” He cited pressing national issues, such as rising public debt and corruption within key institutions, urging the party not to dwell on past misfortunes but to focus on rebuilding credibility as a government in waiting.

Deveaux called for a comprehensive examination of the circumstances surrounding the last election, including the need for the current executive to stop placing blame on individuals like Dr. Samura Kamara.

He stressed that collective responsibility should be embraced, asserting that all members must share accountability for the party’s current predicament.

Reconciliation and unity emerged as central themes in his message. Deveaux criticized the current leadership for failing to foster a spirit of togetherness and called for an end to internal strife.

He highlighted the significance of addressing key issues, including ongoing court cases and potential splinter groups threatening the party’s integrity.

Looking ahead, Deveaux emphasized the necessity for aspiring presidential candidates to hold the government accountable and present a clear agenda to the electorate. He urged candidates to eschew divisive rhetoric and foster a culture of decorum within the party.

He also called for a renewed commitment to internal democracy, insisting that fair practices must be upheld at all levels to ensure the APC remains a credible political force. “A party that fails to practice internal democracy cannot guarantee national democracy,” he noted, urging members to act ethically and prioritize collective goals over personal ambitions.

Deveaux concluded his address with a rallying cry for party members to embrace a spirit of unity and resilience.

We must shake off the dust and continue our journey as a united family,” he said. “Every setback is an opportunity for a comeback, and it’s time for the APC to define a new path forward, one that leads to transformational leadership and success in 2028.”
