Opposition political and social commentator, Dr. Sylvia Olayinka Blyden, has publicly expressed admiration for Francis Ben Kaifala Esq., the current Anti-Corruption Commissioner, and endorsed him as a potential future presidential leader of Sierra Leone.

Dr. Blyden’s remarks came amidst a backdrop of social media scrutiny aimed at various public officials, including Kaifala, the current Anti-Corruption Commissioner. She highlighted that despite facing significant criticism, Kaifala has remained composed and has never encouraged any form of intimidation or abuse against his critics.

“Although we are in different political parties & I will always prefer for my party to run State House, I will not mind if Francis emerges one day to serve as Sierra Leone’s President. He is blessed. Born to Lead,” she expressed strongly.

“The way he carries himself and allows space for criticism reflects his strong leadership qualities,” Dr. Blyden remarked. She emphasized that Kaifala, who hails from Kailahun, is a visionary leader built on values instilled by his mother, Mama Tewa Kaifala.

Reflecting on her past interactions with Kaifala, Dr. Blyden recalled voicing her concerns regarding the corruption and graft issues surrounding the Freetown City Council back in 2021. At that time, according to her, she frequently criticized his actions, yet noted that he never retaliated with rudeness or encouraged his followers to silence her.

“Critics must be given the space to criticize leaders,” she stated, acknowledging Kaifala’s respectful approach even in the face of adversity.

Dr. Blyden’s support came at a time when Sierra Leone is navigating complex political landscapes. Although she aligns with a different political party, she expressed no objection to the prospect of Kaifala leading the country one day, revealing her belief in his potential.

“Francis is blessed. He is born to lead,” she concluded, expressing hope for his future in Sierra Leone’s political scene.
