Leader and 2023 Presidential Candidate of Sierra Leone’s opposition All People’s Congress (APC), Dr Samura Kamara has said the ongoing post-election dialogue must produce a path to restoring democracy and the people’s ‘stolen votes’.

Kamara made this statement while addressing delegates and participants at the ongoing peace dialogue in Freetown. He mentioned that his party will present their position paper including evidence to the committee, expressing hope that the dialogue will restore democracy and the people’s vote.

“Let me state clearly that our people are curiously waiting to see the outcome of this dialogue, that has to be a path to restoring democracy and the people’s voten. To bring him back the stolen votes. This is what our leadership (APC) stands for.” Kamara said.

“In this dialogue, we are faced with two important scenarios, going forward. As a passionate but neutral commentator indicated to me, the easy path for us both is to stay in our entrenched positions and to dig deeper to fight only for the outcome each party believes is right for itself.

“For the APC to move on, it is important to look back and recognise the democratic injustice to the citizens within the context of a hastily installed illegitimate administration as if all is normal.

“For the SLPP to move on, it is important to look forward while recognising the injustice of an electoral coup against the citizens and how this can be peacefully mitigated for now and into the future.

“Our position is not about the interest of individuals or just about the APC but the interest of Sierra Leone. For us, our interest has always been and will continue to be, the peace, stability and development of Sierra Leone

“Until our demands are met and the disaggregated data released by the ECSL, there is currently no winner or loser. For this dialogue, therefore, we are meeting with colleagues of an illegitimate administration.

“The questions which all of us -meaning Sierra Leoneans are asking Mr. Konneh and his team are: Why is the ECSL refusing to publish the disaggregated data by polling stations? What are they hiding and who are they working for? What audacity do they have to deny the request of the people of Sierra Leone?”

This is a developing story. More details shortly…
