Former Vice President of Sierra Leone and Ambassador to China under the erstwhile All People’s Congress (APC), Victor Bockarie Foh has joined the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP).

Foh was one of the oldest members of the APC party but became estranged with most other senior members after the party lost the 2018 elections to the SLPP. The former Vice President became unpopular with APC party supporters after he made statements they viewed as backstabbing to the party and some senior members.

Some locals have said this recent party cross-carpeting was not too surprising because of activities in the early 2018 post-election years.

Foh has now joined the likes of former Minister of Social Welfare, Gender and Children’s Affairs, Alhaji Moijueh Kaikai who also switched camp last Saturday in Pujehun.

The incumbent Julius Maada Bio will contest against the APC’s Dr. Samura Kamara for the second time after 2018. Kamara lost to Bio in the previous election by a narrow margin.

Both candidates are optimistic of winning this year’s election without run-off.
