It is no gainsaying that Hon. Maju Bah is one of the most popular and finest politicians within the APC in our generation and the country at large with the exception of Ernest Bai Koroma and Dr. Samura Kamara. His popularity cut across nationally.

Chericoco, by all estimation, is also fit to be running for flagbearer. But being a party loyalist and as rational as he is, and realizing that such an adventure will further make the party becomes more divided, this gentleman chooses otherwise. That is to work for the party and keep on liaising with, and coordinating with the grassroots. His bond and affinity with the grassroots are so tight to a very large extent.

Therefore, because of his closeness to party members, it is strategic that APC has a team of leaders. It’s good that one looks at the macro level (general populace or the country at large). And Chericoco is a grassroots man who understands the dynamics of the party and affairs of the grassroots. APC needs a lovable person who possesses attributes like hindsight, down-to-earth person who will relate with the grassroots population. And the most suitable person who has been exhibiting such attributes is no less a person but Hon Chernor Maju Bah alias Chericoco. Be reminded also that the grassroots wouldn’t like someone who tends to be difficult to interact with or alien who they may not be able to relate with. Moving forward, Chericoco comes from an ethnic group that is perceived to be a majority. Ironically though, Fullahs are the third larges in the country and are mostly business people.

Notwithstanding, they are “swing voters” whose voting patterns changes. Because they are known for the pursuance of their business interest. Currently, these people are experiencing serious challenges in their business ventures. And they have seriously been hurt by the current unfriendly business climate. It will be in the best interest of the APC to entrust the running mate to one of their kind and the best person that will take a message which will resonate with them (grassroots). And that person is Chericoco.

Judging from the present unfriendly business climate in the country, it is a gospel truth that the Fullahs have little or no confidence in the current Vice President, Dr. Juldeh Jalloh, to salvage the current predicament. The Fullah people are of the opinion that the reason why Juldeh Jalloh could not prevail on their current predicament is because he is being perceived as a stranger, meaning he is not traditionally brewed in the SLPP. On the contrary, has over the years, moved through the ranks and file within the APC. As a result, the Fullahs have deemed it to be prudent to bestow their confidence and support to Hon Chernor Maju Bah than his counterpart.

Finally, is an open secret that APC is a conglomeration of different ethnic groups. But we may disagree to agree that among all the least quota within the APC. If Hon Chernor Maju Bah is appointed as a running mate for APC, the party will remain to be seen more inclusive and diversify.
