One of the prospective candidates for the Sierra Leone’s main opposition All People’s Congress (APC), Mohamed Omodu Kamara alias Jagaban has challenged his rivals to match his successes in leadership and business.
Kamara, who was addressing his supporters, dismissed academic accomplishment as a requisite for good leadership.
“I’m not a PhD holder and I’m not shy about it,” he said. “I have PhD holders working for me.”
He added that people with postgraduate degrees will be welcomed in their administration but that they should be ready to render their service to the leader or president. He also praised the leadership style of former President Ernest Bai Koroma.
Kamara stressed the necessity for Sierra Leone to have leaders equipped with entrepreneurship skills. He pointed to his achievements as a businessman in the United States as a prime example of the type of leadership that the country requires.
Kamara is one of several candidates from the main opposition party who have expressed their interest in its leadership. During the 2023 elections, many supporters regarded him as the ideal running mate for Samura Kamara, the party’s presidential candidate at that time but was snubbed when the party supported Chernor Maju Bah.
The APC lost the 2023 elections to the incumbent Julius Maada Bio -the second consecutive loss of the party to the SLPP. However, some supporters and leaders of the party have refused accept the results citing electoral malfeasance evident in data inconsistency and failure of the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL) to make public the results.
Jagaban is the only man in the APC that can give SLPP a go run for their money in the South East and the country at large 😃. Running a successful businesses in the United States and Europe as a black man takes immense effort and guts.
Sir I support your speech,we pray for a good leader that will make Sierraleone 🇸🇱 a better home.
