Former President of Nigeria Goodluck Jonathan Shed Light on Sierra Leone’s Elections

The Head of the West African Elders Forum (WAEF) 2023 Election Mission to Sierra Leone, former President Goodluck Jonathan has congratulated the people of Sierra Leone for the conduction of other general elections.

He revealed in an interview With AYV that they knew when the country had a civil war and he is happy that democracy is stabilized in Sierra Leone.

He affirmed that the West Africa Elders Forum wants a stable West Africa and not one that is littered with crises.

Jonathan said, “I cannot make general comments because the West Africa Elders Forum wouldn’t send me to the Hinterland. We visited some stations in Freetown here; we cannot base on that alone and make a general comment. We are working with ECOWAS and AU so after listing to their observers in the field then one can make a comprehensive statement.”

He further sent a message to Sierra Leoneans that they want Sierra Leone to live peacefully.

He admitted that we cannot have economic development, and cautioned that a country must be peaceful for investment to come in – both Sierra Leoneans that may want to invest and outsiders.

The former Nigerian President pointed out that money is a coward and it runs away from crisis except for those who sell weapons.

Goodluck Jonathan, who is chairman of the West Africa Elders Forum, was in Sierra Leone to encourage and support a peaceful democratic transition in the country.

The Americans, the Europeans, the British and Irish have spoken, so therefore, the rest of the democratic could tries and institutions will follow. A simple and straightforward demand is required, that they only need to see the disaggregated data of all polling stations in the country plus the RR Forms . I don't think it's a big ask if the word peace is really relevant in Sierra Leone content.

If it was formal president koroma that seek for third term, you will hear the whole world progagating his government. But bio is seeking to third term all the slpp thugs and minister members of Parliament are all happy. Even tho he is doing the wrong no one is there to say word. Why u guys keep on fooling yourself about peace in Sierra Leone, we don't need peace, we only need Justice, give Ceaser what belongs to Ceaser. Why are you afraid of telling Maada Bio to stand down for peace sake. Sierra Leone will face the worst ever in the history of the world if justice not prevail on this issue. Maada has ruled Sierra Leone in 1992 and he come back in 2018 and they give him second chance, why he still insist to hold down in power and not give chance to the rightful winner.
