As the June 24 2023 General Elections approach nearer, there have been several upbeats in the county’s political arena, and the All People’s Congress is not an exceptional Playlist in thus maiming political fight for power in the miserable economy of Sierra Leone where an average man cannot earn one dollar per day, which is considered as poverty, according to the United Nations definition of poverty.

Furthermore, since elections are near, with barely six months to go to the polls, there have been rumors about Dr Kandeh Kolleh Yumkella dreaming of the Presidency in the general election, despite having his political party. But it is however, a blunt truth about Sierra Leone’s political landscape that it is difficult for any new political party to win the presidential election in this country. Since these are the two oldest political parties that have breathed bad oxygen into the lives of their citizens, which has caused the national prosperity eyesight messing in the minds of its citizens due to unacceptable standards setup by the people themselves.

Meanwhile many citizens believe that the APC stronghold is the Northwestern and Western Area of the country and the SLPP stronghold is the East and Southern parts of the country. Psychological speaking, these regions and the people there have divided themselves to rule Sierra Leone in such a way that it is not acceptable by moral standards but acceptable by people who benefits directly from the two colonial parties at the detriment of the poor.

Dr Kandeh Kolleh Yumkella’s calls to Sierra Leone politics came as a result of his 2016-17 determination to become the president of Sierra Leone, a moment that was tough for him because His Excellency Dr Bio was the unopposed leader of the party at the time.

Many people in the ruling SLPP said they hoped KKY had been patient to become the second gentleman instead of forming an alliance which is not possible to make him to State House as President of Sierra Leone.

Intelligence reached this medium that KKY might move to the SLPP, since that is the Political party that he used to be a member of. Kandeh coming to the SLPP might be welcoming for many in the ruling party but the thousand questions in the mind of many would be ” could Kandeh leaves his NGC party for the SLPP?” If it happens, many NGC supporters might feel betrayed and never trust.

Speaking to a Senior member of NGC, he said that their leader Kandeh does not have any intention of leaving his NGC party for APC or SLPP. Um! It could be believable but this is not a March that could be determined by a coach about the best players. Sierra Leone is not a March that could be played by the best players. The country’s politics is determined by geographical areas, not a person’s ability.

In our country, Political candidates are appointed or elected/ selected by people without substantial evidence of his/her input.
