Charles Margai Reveals Why President Bio Sacked Him as Attorney General

Former Attorney General of Sierra Leone and presidential candidate for the Peoples Movement for Democratic Change (PMDC), Charles Francis Margai, revealed some possible reasons why he believes President Julius Maada Bio sacked him in 2018 during an interview with Radio Democracy 98.1.

He began by acknowledging the constitutional authority of President Bio to hire and fire him. However, he pointed out that since his dismissal, President Bio has never publicly explained the reasons behind it.

Margai believes that the President is the only one who can provide a better explanation to the nation.

He mentioned that even President Bio and Kanja Sesay visited his house to appeal for his support in 2018, and his wife can attest to this. He also noted that on the day of his swearing-in ceremony as Attorney General, the President refused to shake hands with him.

According to Margai, he believes that his dismissal was motivated by his advice against the unconstitutional appointment of certain Cabinet members who fell under Section 76 1B of the Constitution of Sierra Leone.

Furthermore, he raised concerns about President Bio’s appointment of the Chief Minister, stating that it was unconstitutional since the constitution only provides for a President and Vice President.

Margai also mentioned that he instructed Judges to retire at the age of 65 to prevent them from making incorrect interpretations of the law.

In conclusion, the PMDC leader stated that a meeting was held at Kona Lodge on King Street, where Prof. Francis and Dr. Abass Bundu made a presentation to the President asserting that Margai was not a team player.

He clarified that he does not harbor hatred towards the SLPP, but he disagrees with the way they conduct their politics.

Charles Margai should now occupy the back seat in the political setting.The longer he had being in politics had made him unpopular and untrustworthy.and a liability.

Charles Francis Margai is the only true SLPP politician alive today. There were three of them before 1996. Two have gone to the true world. Charles is the only active politician during the Siaka Stevens and Momoh era that did not join the one party rule, that is alive today. Most of the SLPP politicians crossed to the APC and only came back to the SLPP when they believed APC will never rise again after the 1992 NPRC coup. It was because of the ungratefulness of those AGIP (Any Government In Power) politicians that led Charles Margai to leave and form his own party. Of all politicians, Charles Margai suffered the most during the one party rule, only to be shunned by the same policians who were APC during the one party rule. He does not deserve the humiliation he's facing presently.

We can only draw conclusions when the employing authority and in this case the President speaks out on reasons for his dismissal. This for obvious reasons will not happen and the president will bath in the power vested in him the right to hire and fire. So whatever is heard from the lawyer ( seen to be a controversial figure) will seem to open more debate on the sacking and everybody will take his own bite. However it is no secret there has been no love lost between the pair and it is set to continue in the foreseeable future. Sierra Leone politics interesting. Isn't it??

Thank you very much Mohammed for coming closer to the reason why Charles Margai was removed from office. In likes of others like Sisikie, Concerns Sierra Leonean and Harum who happens to be APC party pikin. Who see Charles Margai as their lord. Since Charles Margai was rejected SLPP flag during 2007, for President Obama Bio, he has been extremely misbehaving against the state as a Lawyer. So many was done but this was what happened when he was removed as Antony General of the State. There was a Land Alleged Case between One Lebanese Man and Sia Nyama Koroma the wife of Earnest Bai Koroma. Is about 55 Archer Land. EBK went and bribed Charles Margai to dismiss the case from Court and made no case submission. President Obama Bio who cares for his people weather you are a Foreigner or Citizen, removed Charles Margai from Office as the Antony General of the State. Charles Margai is a mess to the Sierra Leone. Only APC supporters see him as their Lord because they don't mean good for this Country call Mama Sierra Leone.

Charles is one of democratic person I admire in that country. He practices a very civilized and uncompromising political. This fading SLPP Paopa regime cannot contain him because of his gentle, civilized, and modern politics. I don't know where this 17th. Century SLPP Paopa regime came from. Bringing in the politics of hate, division, killing, intimidation, thuggery, stealing in a small country like Sierra Leone. This is the 21 st Century, for God shake. There is no space for 17th Century politicians in this modern/civilized world. We don't need them no more in the country. LET THEM PACK EN GO!!!

I think most of us can still recall the incident that took place which lead to the dismissal of Lawyer Charles F Margai. According to my own memory, he was caught betraying President Maada Bio and his SLPP movement.

Charles Margai is a profound and congenital lier who has no shame for all the disgraceful things he does.
