Sierra Leone’s main opposition party, All People’s Congress (APC), has announced that it will hold a press conference today, Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at the Raddison Blu Mammy Yoko Hotel in Freetown.
During the conference, Dr. Samura Kamara, the APC’s presidential candidate, will address the people of Sierra Leone.
Dr. Samura Kamara’s speech is expected to convey the APC party’s dissatisfaction with the integrity and validity of the published Voter Register, as well as the poor quality of the voter ID cards issued to the electorate in preparation for the elections on June 24.
Lansana Dumbuya, the National Secretary General of the APC, stated that the press conference will bring attention to “serious electoral malpractices that could jeopardize the successful conduct of a free, fair, transparent, peaceful, and credible electoral process” in the forthcoming elections.
The party aims to highlight these issues to the international community, media, and the people of Sierra Leone.
In a previous public notice issued by the party on June 11, 2023, the APC leadership expressed their concerns regarding the repeated violations of the country’s 1991 Constitution and relevant provisions of the Public Elections Act (PEA) of 2022 by the Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone (ECSL).
Despite the APC’s attempts to address these issues with the ECSL, they claim that the commission has remained uncooperative.
Samura. You voices are highly needed, either to escalate or calm the situations
What I was expecting
Yes this the right and responsibilities of been a leader of a party or organization. They must do things according to the civilized manner either by press conferences or use a legal actions mainly go to court .
No data no election and Konneh must go
This is the right platform to let the people of Sierra Leone and the international community know what is going on and the malpractice is not hiding to everyone, registering under age to vote is not fair and we don’t want to go back in 1961.
This is the best thing to do, thank you for that.
Samura once said this voter’s cards are more authentic the the 2018 cards.
Do why complain now few days to election?
Only time for elections we know people that have money
after election all of them are gone.
Gento, Jagaban… wunna kushe ooo
God please make thunder strike all people that thinks of spoiling SIERRA LEONE AND
God please help those that have the intention of improving SIERRA LEONE.
Dr Samura kamara, you where clear to sierra leonean and the world at large that the voters id is in good shape compare to 2018, why are you bringing this isues again? Please sir lets maintain peace, and look.foward to june 24.
It is ovious that the June 24 general election will not be free and fair due to the poor prepared i.d cards, I prefer the ECSL and NEC give another date for this 2023 election day.
