As Sierra Leone braces itself for the anticipated dialogue between the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) and the main opposition All People’s Congress (APC), Dr. Samura Kamara, the APC’s flag bearer for the 2023 elections, is urging Sierra Leoneans to come together in prayer.

In a heartfelt message on Twitter, Dr. Kamara appealed for unity among citizens, regardless of their political, tribal, or regional affiliations. “Amidst our current political stalemate, I humbly call upon all true and loving Sierra Leoneans to unite in prayer for wisdom, unity, and a peaceful resolution,” he wrote.

Understanding the deep-rooted anxiety stemming from the current political climate, he continued, “May we find an outcome that serves not our personal ambitions but the greater good of our beloved nation.” Dr. Kamara also stressed the need for divine intervention to guide the representatives in the forthcoming dialogue, urging for Muslim prayers on the coming Friday and Christian prayers on Sunday.

The pivotal dialogue aims to address the controversies that have arisen from the June 24 general elections. Both parties are expected to strategize on ways to foster peace and chart a unified path forward, alleviating the present political tensions.
