Delegates of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) in Kenema District have voted to remove Moriba S. Koroma from his chairmanship position during the district party elections.
The decision reflects a growing desire among party members for renewed energy and better representation at the district level.
The vote for new leadership was characterized by a strong call for change, with many delegates expressing concerns about Koroma’s leadership.
Massah Koroma, a party member, stated, “This is democracy in action. We thank Moriba for his service, but the time has come for a new voice.” This sentiment was echoed by others who participated in the election.
Delegates cited several reasons for their decision, including a perceived lack of grassroots engagement and poor coordination among local party structures.
There was a clear demand for stronger unity and a more effective political strategy within the district. Those factors contributed to the consensus that a new leader was necessary to revitalize the party’s presence in Kenema.
The outcome of the election paves the way for fresh leadership, which many believe is essential for rebuilding trust with the party’s base. The SLPP in Kenema has made a bold statement: change is here, and it begins with decisive actions like this one.
