The leadership of the United Democratic Movement Party [UDM] has issued a statement expressing concerns over the recent attacks targeting the Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone ahead of the June 24 elections.
Below is the statement issued by the Chairman and Leader of the Party Mohamed Sowa Turay:
“The leadership of the United Democratic Movement (UDM) Party notes with utter dissatisfaction the several attacks targeting the work of the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL) as it prepares for the general elections on 24 June.
We at the UDM believe that the ECSL and other election management bodies (EMBs) are working assiduously to conduct an election that would be peaceful, transparent and credible at the end. Throwing spanners at the work of the ECSL at this moment would only create room for questioning the outcome of the process. It is on this note that I am calling on all peace loving Sierra Leoneans at home and abroad to refrain from making utterances that would not only undermine the electoral process but subsequently subject the state to chaos and insecurity.
Let use concerted effort as political party stakeholders to support the work of the ECSL with a view to ensuring that they conduct a peaceful and credible elections for all and sundry. Let’s us embrace peace and resist any form of violence in the days leading to the elections and even after the process.”
The UDM chairman is part and parcel of the PAOPA conspiracy in support of the unethical and unprofessional activities of the ECSL Commissioner.
Unfortunately the UDM party has never and will never win even a councillorship position in this election.. The party was supposed financially by the PAOPA government just to deceive the International community people that Maada Bio encourages democracy. The UDM chairman is a poppet of the PAOPA government. We all know that you are supporting Maada Bio to get money.
UDM from where? The chairman wants recognition but only his master and supporters will pay attention to him.
Where is the chairman with all what is going on with the process? He’s another enemy of the state
UDM chairman so why did you not addressed or condemned the violent behaviour of the Police/SLPP supporters when they attacked the presidential party campaign vehicles in Kono and the damaging of Yvonne Aki-Sawyer’s private vehicle? Why did you not ask the ECSL to pull out the election data as was requested and why are you so concern about the violence. Don’t get me wrong I don’t tolerate violence however, sometimes you have to pull the bull by the horn. DO NOT HIDE BEHIND POAPA.
