Sierra Leone international Augustus Kargbo continued his impressive form in the Italian Serie B, scoring his third goal of the season as Cesena cruised to a 4-2 victory over Mantova in Week 7.
Football Sierra Leone reports that the talented forward found the net in the 21st minute, helping Cesena establish a comfortable lead going into halftime. However, his evening was cut short due to a minor injury in the 53rd minute.
Cesena’s dominance was evident from the opening whistle, with Shpendi getting the team off to a flying start in the fifth minute. Giuseppe Prestia added another goal before the break to give Cesena a commanding 3-0 advantage.
Mantova fought back in the second half, pulling one goal back through Redolfi. But Cesena responded quickly, with Romagnoli and Tavsan combining for a counterattack goal to seal the win.
Cesena’s manager, Michele Mignani, was pleased with his team’s performance, praising their early goal and overall control of the match. He acknowledged that Mantova posed a threat, but he felt Cesena deserved to score more in the first half.
Mignani expressed concern about Mantova’s ability to create chances in the latter stages of the game. Despite the win, he emphasized the need for improvement in defending against counterattacks.
Mantova will look to bounce back from the defeat when they face Brescia in the upcoming derby at the Martelli stadium next Sunday.
