In the eleventh hour of losing their match with Shakhtar Donetsk in Poland, Sierra Leonean – Germany based player Antonio Rüdiger suffered a head clash in his verge of securing a goal for Real Madrid.
Antonio Rudiger put his body on the line as his late goal sent Real Madrid into the knockout stages of the Champions League despite being held to a 1-1 draw against Shakhtar Donetsk in Poland.
Oleksandr Zubrov’s 46th minute strike gave the hosts a surprise lead, before Rudiger came up with the goods to save Carlo Ancelotti’s side in injury-time. The German international headed home in the 95th minute to earn a point for Los Blancos as they stretched their unbeaten start to the season to 12 matches.
In Real Madrid’s games played since 6th September to 11th October this year, the team has shown outstanding performance as they had won three out of their four matches. This leaves them with two matches with Leipzig and Celtic.
From the look of things, It means Real Madrid team has qualified from Group F, with Shakhtar and Leipzig set to battle it out for the other place in the knockout stages.
