The Sierra Leone men’s National Football team, Leone Stars have mounted an impressive comeback against Guinea Bissau in the African Cup of Nations qualifiers in Conakry, Guinea.

Leone Stars dominated the first half but failed to convert their chances, and they were made to pay for it in the second half.

Leone Stars went 2-0 down from Jorginho’s brace in the 49 and 52 minutes for Guinea Bissau. Guinea Bissau 2-0 lead was however threatened after Sana was sent off shortly in the 57 minutes.

Musa Tombo missed a penalty to give Leone Stars hope of a comeback, but Augustus Kargbo goal in the 78 minutes was enough to inspire a comeback.

Musa Tombo atoned for his penalty miss with a header to equalise in the 88 minutes of play.

Guinea Bissau finished the match with 9 men after their goalkeeper suffered an injury in the course of Musa Tombo’s goal. However, Leone Stars could not secure a win the latter stage of the match.

This is Leone Stars second game in the AFCON qualifiers, after losing to 2-1 to Nigeria in Abuja.

Leone Stars will play their next two matches against the bottom team Sao Tome who have conceded 15 goals in 2 matches, after losing 5-1 against Guinea Bisaau and 10-0 against Nigeria.
