Sierra Leone Football Association’s (SLFA) proposal to host Nigeria at the newly built Southern Arena Stadium in Bo City, Sierra Leone, has been rejected by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
The decision is reportedly due to the insufficient number of standard hotels in the country’s second-largest city, according to SLFA.
Nigeria’s Super Eagles defeated Sierra Leone 2-1 in the Day 1 encounter of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualification (AFCON) qualifiers at the MKO Abiola Stadium. Sierra Leone is set to face Nigeria in the return leg of the African Qualifiers on Matchday 5 next month.
As a result of the decision, SLFA will need to secure an alternative venue for the match, which is scheduled to take place in June.
CAF don’t just want to host the game there because of reasons best known to them not for standard hotels because Bo city has them.
This is complete rubbish if this news is true. Who told them that Bo city doesn’t have standard hotels. Why didn’t they look into that before approving the stadium for international matches if that was a requirement.
This is absolutely wrong I rembered at one time Kai kamara was reporting that Nigeria gave them bed like rock which make them not to perform well in the game nothing like standard hotel was mentioned but in Sierra Leone all the sentimental misguided elements principles are observed here but anyway it’s what it’s .
I support CAF in this particular issue because we want to host an international match we need to have all this facilities so there is more to be done at the Bo city… Anyway congratulations to u babadi Kamara for a wonderful job well done sir
Sierra Leone football association please talk to Liberia football association and use SKD sport complex stadium in Monrovia for free of charge
Just imagine Liberia no complain about them, they have better stadium . No visibility study was done.
May the entire population of Nigeria will be coming to witness the match. Smh
Hope better decision can favour us in any time soon.. But sierra leone as a nation, we don’t love each other or seen to appreciate one’s efforts. What I saw in recent times about the said stadium 🏟 in Bo is enough for CAF to consider any decision against us……
We should be supporting or putting up strong arguments for achievement but it’s the other ways round initially due to selfish reasons.
This blue app is monitored and analyse on a daily basis and taking into account against whosoever is involved…salone is unfortunate at this time from the above news if true……
Please, Mr Babadi continue the good work, better days will surely come to light in our favour as Sierra leoneans………
Poor recomendation from fifa
I see no reason why the match should not be played in the newly constructed Stadium when it has long been approved by FIFA. So what was the use then that stadium was tested by FIFA hmmm African politics is everywhere..,.
What ? Which kind of such a derogatory statement about Bo city. CAF or whatever you called yourself who told you that Bo city doesn’t have a Standard hotel. Please let support the effort of our brother.
