Leone Stars B of Sierra Leone Suffered a 2-0 defeat, losing narrowly to the Malians in the first Leg of the 2023 CHAN qualifier at the SKD Stadium in Liberia.
The less said about the wet pitch during the the match at the SKD Stadium the better as Leone Stars B prepares for the reversed fixture on the 3rd September in Bamako, Mali. However, during the match some players gave good account of themselves while others did not.
Probably the Leone Stars most improved homebased player is the East End Lions Winger, Prince Barrie. Barrie’s speed and dexterity gave the team the energy to keep driving on despite the Malians took the lead..
He was a constant link to the attack and was running all the game. Barrie has plenty dribbling tricks and that poses serious problems for the Malian defensive structure.
He has a much improved performance against Mali and was a constant threat down the left for the Sierra Leoneans. He was like a thorn in the flesh for the Malian defense and Coach Francis Zappa Koroma must be pleased with that.
