The China-aided national stadium rehabilitation project in Sierra Leone is ongoing and it is expected to be completed by  May in 2024. Since the commencement of the  project, there has been huge progress  ahead of meeting the remaining nine months in the Project life span.

The Coordinator of the Gansu Construction Investment (Holding) Group Co. Ltd (GCIGC) Wan Bao Xin earlier revealed that the entire rehabilitation of the national stadium including the construction of the practice field and the swimming pool will be completed in May 2024.

He furthered that they have dismantled the current structure and are set to give it a facelift to be a standard ultra-modern facility to meet the international standard with a pavilion for the disabled people, noting further that the swimming pool will be upgraded to standard level, the stadium hostel will have 96 rooms, a handball court will be built very close to the basketball, volleyball and tennis courts

After the completion of the  on-going rehabilitation works, the Siaka Stevens Stadium will have the following facilities which will meet FIFA/CAF requirements: modern Dressing rooms, media centre,  scoreboard, tunnel, gym, plastic seats for the stands,  electronic scoreboard, etc..

The Ministry of Employment, Labour and Social Security, Mohamed Rahman Swaray , recently Pays visit to the National Stadium Rehabilitation Site, to assess work environment and conditions of workers; as well as remind workers of their rights and responsibilities.
