The Secretary General of the Sierra Leone Football Association Chris Kamara on Friday 13 January paid a courtesy call at the siaka stevens stadium rehabilitation site in honor of an invitation by the GCIGC.
The purpose of his visit was to provide professional guidance in ensuring the CAF Media set standards are met, as the stadium was banned by CAF for not being up to international standards.
In welcoming him the GCIGC site lead described Kamara’s visit as “timely and insightful”.
In February 2021 the Confederation of African Football (CAF), imposed a ban on Sierra Leone’s National Stadium from hosting international matches. According to CAF, the national stadium in Freetown is unfit to host international matches, because the stadium lacks adequate facilities that match the standards. The stadium has been in existence since 1978 and has been a center for all major activities happening in the country.
