The Junior Men’s Patriot of Sierra Leone has progressed to the semifinals of the ICC U-19 Men’s World Cup Africa Division 2 Qualifier after finishing as runner-up in Group B behind the host nation Nigeria which won all three matches.

Sierra Leone Cricket Under-19 side during preparation for the qualifier was inspired by Edward George Ngegba the immediate former skipper of the team and current captain of Midwest Cricket Club which help the team to commence its campaign in a remarkable form by recording two straight wins in their first two matches edging Rwanda by six wickets and triumphing over Botswana in the second match by eight wickets.

However, despite the Junior Men’s Patriot suffering a defeat against Nigeria by eleven runs the team’s hopes of securing one of the three spots for the ICC U-19 Men’s World Cup Africa Division 1 Qualifier scheduled for 2023 remain alive and are now set to battle with the Group A winners Kenya Under-19 side in the semifinals
