Former Premier League star Curtis Davies, known for his stints with clubs like Leicester City, West Bromwich Albion, and Hull City, is set to represent Sierra Leone in the upcoming World Cup Qualifiers. This follows an announcement from the national team’s head coach.

Despite being 38, Davies remains active in the football world. He has recently penned a one-year contract with Cheltenham Town. The club expressed their delight in securing the services of the seasoned EFL defender. Before joining Cheltenham, Davies devoted six years of his career to Derby County.

Davies’ illustrious football journey began with Luton Town, progressing to West Bromwich Albion, Aston Villa, and Leicester City. He later transitioned to Birmingham City, where he shared the pitch for two years with Wade Elliott, the current Robins manager. An interesting highlight from his career includes scoring in the 2014 FA Cup Final during his time with Hull City. He joined Derby County in 2017 after leaving Hull.

Speaking about his latest move, Davies expressed, “It’s an exciting time for me. I never thought I’d be able to embrace a new challenge like this at my age. But I’m keen to achieve something special this year and I’ll give my best for Cheltenham Town.”

Sierra Leonean football enthusiasts are buoyed by Davies’ inclusion in the national team. His vast experience and football acumen are anticipated to instill confidence and impart invaluable guidance to the younger players in the squad.
