East End Lions FC have officially lodged an appeal against the decision of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) FA Cup Emergency Disciplinary and Protest Committee, calling for a fair and impartial review of the case.
The appeal stems from the FA Cup final match between East End Lions FC and Bo Rangers FC held on May 4th, 2024, in Port Loko. The club expressed deep dissatisfaction with the committee’s ruling, which they believe represents a miscarriage of justice.
East End Lions FC specifically contests the committee’s failure to adequately address a serious injury sustained by one of their players due to the actions of Bo Rangers FC fans. Additionally, the club’s Executive Chair, Anthony Navo, highlighted discrepancies between the committee’s decision and the factual evidence documented in the referee and match commissioner’s reports.
Navo further raised concerns regarding procedural errors and inconsistencies in the decision-making process. He expressed confidence that the appeal will yield a more equitable outcome.
The appeal, submitted in accordance with SLFA regulations, calls for a comprehensive review by the appeals committee. East End Lions FC emphasizes the paramount importance of transparency, fairness, and adherence to established precedents throughout the appeals process.
The Chairlady of the Club, Asmaa James, also underlined East End Lions FC’s unwavering commitment to upholding the integrity of the sport and ensuring the safety and well-being of all stakeholders.
