Luawa FC has officially parted ways with head coach Flavio Silva. The Portuguese international cited personal reasons for his resignation from the Sierra Leone Premier League club.

In a statement, Silva expressed gratitude to the club’s president and praised his players for their development during his tenure.

“For personal reasons, I had to abandon the Luawa FC project. To the president, I express my deepest gratitude for everything he did for me. To my players, your incredible evolution has been inspiring. Thank you very much. We’ve done excellent work and will continue to see its impact. One day, I will return. Thank you from the bottom of my heart,” he said.

However, reports suggest that Silva’s resignation may also be linked to his recent criticism of officiating in the league. Following a defeat to East End Lions, he voiced his disappointment, stating, “What a shame. After a 2-goal finish in 90 minutes, the referee gave 6 minutes of extra time, and East End Lions scored a third goal in the 12th minute.”

He added, “In 22 years of football, I have never seen what I saw today. Africa needs help from CAF.”

Flavio Silva leaves Luawa FC with a legacy of growth and progress, having contributed to the club’s development during his time in charge
