Angela Gabbidon, an exceptional young female legal professional from Sierra Leone, has been appointed as a member of the Legal Commission by the West Africa Football Union (WAFU).

Angela Gabbidon, Esq., is a Barrister and Solicitor at the BMT Law Chambers. She was called to the Bar in 2020 and previously served as a member of Sierra Leone’s inaugural Women’s Premier League Board.

The 2022/23 season marked the first-ever women’s top-tier league in Sierra Leone, featuring twelve teams from the country’s five regions. Angela Gabbidon’s role as the legal representative on the board was crucial in ensuring the league concluded successfully without any major incidents of violence.

Expressing her delight in the appointment to the WAFU Legal Commission, Angela Gabbidon, Esq., emphasized that it would bring about a new experience. She stated, “It holds significant meaning for me, representing a new experience and much more.”

Lawyer Angela Gabbidon concluded by encouraging women in Sierra Leone to cultivate self-confidence and believe in their ability to achieve personal goals independently, without relying solely on their partners.

“I want women in Sierra Leone to recognize that they are capable of accomplishing things on their own and should not depend solely on their spouses,” she expressed.

“They should develop self-confidence and believe in their capacity to contribute greatly to the development of our nation.”
