The Parliamentary Committee on Sports, in collaboration with the National Sports Authority (NSA) and the Ministry of Sports, has inspected the ongoing rehabilitation work at the Siaka Stevens National Stadium.

The inspection forms part of continued oversight efforts to ensure that the renovation project meets expected timelines and international standards.

According to the contractors overseeing the project, Phase One of the rehabilitation is scheduled for completion by June 30, 2026. Significant progress has reportedly been made across key areas of the stadium, including the playing pitch, floodlighting system, spectator stands, dressing rooms, tartan track, and drainage infrastructure.

Officials noted that once this phase is completed, the stadium is expected to meet the standards set by both the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA).

The rehabilitation of the country’s main sporting facility is widely seen as a critical step toward revitalising football in Sierra Leone, with stakeholders expressing optimism that improved infrastructure will enhance both player performance and the nation’s ability to host international matches.
