Sierra Leone head coach, John Keister recently announced a 38-man provisional squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying clash against the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

The encounter which will be played at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex in Monrovia, neighbouring Liberia is slated for June 18.

The gaffer is expected to cut down the list before the game. The Leone Stars are currently third on the Group A table with five points from four games.

Keister’s team Captain, Steven Caulker will not be part of the crucial encounter and the gaffer is expected to find his replacement to pair with Abu Bakarr Samura as central defenders to stop the super Eagles Forwards.

The Leone Stars gaffer will look to inject fresh talents into the national team squad by extending maiden invitations to a few promising players to solve his injury concerns.

Sierra Leone needs to win the game to keep their dreams of making it to Cote d’Ivoire 2023 alive.

Sierra Leone will be eager to break a long-standing winless streak against Nigeria, having not defeated the three-time Afcon kings since their narrow 1-0 triumph in a World Cup qualifier back in 2001.

Since then, the Super Eagles have dominated this fixture, winning four out of the six encounters and drawing the remaining two.

Leone Stars will be determined to turn the tide in their favour and potentially boost their chances of advancing to the AFCON finals.

Sierra Leone, will be aiming to disrupt the Super Eagles’ ambitions and potentially advance their own campaign.
