Mogbwemo Queens clinched their first victory in the CAF WAFU Zone A Women’s Champions League qualifiers with a thrilling 2-1 win against Determine Girls at the state-of-the-art Southern Arena.
Nadi Quadé, representing Guinea-Bissau, scored the opening goal for Mogbwemo Queens in the 6th minute, marking her first continental goal with an exceptional assist from Sembu.
The Queens dominated the match, controlling play across the pitch in pursuit of their first win. Despite the pressure, the Liberian champions, Determine Girls, managed to equalize in the 35th minute, bringing the score to 1-1 at halftime.
The match was ultimately decided by Mogbwemo Queens’ captain, Kadiatu M. Kamara, who secured the victory with a trademark long-range set piece. Her outstanding performance and leadership on the pitch earned her the Woman of the Match award.
This crucial win rejuvenated Mogbwemo Queens’ campaign in the qualifiers. If Mogbwemo Queens win their final match against Red Scorpions and Determine Girls draw, it would secure Mogbwemo Queens’ qualification from Zone A for the CAF Champions League.
