Sierra Leonean football icon Mohamed Kallon has singled out Augustus Kargbo as the standout player in the current Leone Stars squad.
In a recent statement, Kallon praised Kargbo’s contributions on the field, calling him “the best by far at the moment.”
Kallon, who has closely followed the national team’s progress, wrote: “Augustus Kargbo is involved in almost all of our goals.
His willingness and ability to defend during defensive transitions is second to none.” He also expressed confidence in Kargbo’s future, predicting that although he may reach the big stage a little later than expected, “he will get there soon.”
Kallon, who famously played alongside some of Sierra Leone’s football greats, added that Kargbo’s skills would have shone even more had he played in the era of Junior Parade and Junior Tumbu, legends of the game.
“He could have scored many goals with his ability to run and penetrate defensive lines,” Kallon noted, affirming that Kargbo is poised to score even more for Sierra Leone.
As the Leone Stars prepare to face Ivory Coast in their next fixture on October 6, 2024, Kallon’s endorsement of Kargbo comes as a major vote of confidence in the young player’s potential.
Football fans across the nation will be eagerly watching to see how Kargbo performs in this critical match.
With Kallon’s backing, the stage is set for Augustus Kargbo to continue his rise as a key player for the Leone Stars and a prominent figure in Sierra Leonean football.
