Sierra Leonean football legend, Mohamed Kallon has urged fans to support the national team, even when they are not performing at their best.

Kallon, who is the founder of Kallon FC, made the remarks in a recent statement following the friendly match between Sierra Leone and Somalia.

“I do understand when you guys vent out your frustrations and dissatisfactions whenever our national team performs poorly,” Kallon said. “But we have to tap them on their back when they’re playing good so that they will continue to do more for Sierra Leone.”

Kallon highlighted the importance of recognizing key players like Buya and commending their efforts. He also urged fans to be patient with the new head coach, Amidu Karim, and his team.

“From my previous congratulatory message to Leone Stars I received many negative feedback on my comments section about Leone Stars performance,” Kallon said. “In my opinion they did, taking into consideration those were our first friendly matches under the new head coach Amidu Karim.”

Drawing from his own experiences playing for renowned clubs like Inter Milan and Monaco, Kallon reminisced about the diverse opinions fans had about his performances in every match. However, he emphasized that he earned the love of many fans due to his unwavering commitment and dedication to representing Sierra Leone.

Kallon urged fans to adopt a constructive and professional approach to criticism and support. He stressed the importance of motivation rather than demotivation, emphasizing the need for a united and positive football community in Sierra Leone.

Referring to a previous congratulatory message to Leone Stars, Kallon mentioned receiving negative feedback about the team’s performance. In his view, considering these were the national team’s first friendly matches under the new head coach Amidu Karim, their performance was commendable.

“Let’s all support our national team and give them the motivation they need to succeed,” Kallon said.

Kallon’s words are a timely reminder of the importance of support for the national team, especially during difficult times. Football is a sport that brings people together, and Sierra Leoneans should be proud of their national team and their achievements.
