The National Sports Authority (NSA) boss, Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai participated in a panel discussion at the Africa Sportsbiz Forum in Kigali, Rwanda, focusing on the opportunities and challenges presented by sports betting.

In his remarks, Abdulai emphasized the significant potential of sports betting to contribute to economic development in Africa. He highlighted the potential for increased tax revenue, job creation, technological advancements, higher attendance at sporting events, and overall wealth generation.

However, Abdulai also acknowledged the risks associated with sports betting, including addiction, mental health issues, and the presence of unregulated operators. He stressed the importance of responsible gambling and called for stringent regulations to ensure a fair and transparent betting environment.

The NSA boss further highlighted the role of technology in driving the growth of the sports betting industry. He emphasized the potential of wearables and data analytics to positively impact economies.

To mitigate potential harm and promote responsible gambling, Abdulai advocated for public education through awareness campaigns to inform individuals about the risks and benefits of sports betting.
