The President of the National Olympic Committee of Sierra Leone who doubles as the Head of Sierra Leone Olympic Committee, Prince Vandy Sualley, is facing criticism after it was alleged that he included his wife and children as part of the Sierra Leone delegation to the 2024 Olympics in France.

Sports officials and the general public are incensed by this decision and wonder why family members are frequently sent with teams to important competitions.

Many contend that this is an unfair practice that denies worthy officials and athletes opportunities, but nothing is wrong with this if he didn’t use the NOC funds to finance their travel costs.

Sualley has not yet addressed the criticism but calls within the Sierra Leone Olympic Committee for accountability and transparency on whether he uses his funds to finance the Trip for his family members or from the NOC’s allocated budget for the Paris 2024 Olympic.

Sualley earlier replaced Dr Patrick Coker as the new head of the NOC-SLE. The elections saw Sualley get 23 votes while his opponents Kelvin Ezekeil Kellie got four and Mohamed Turay got one respectively.
