On Tuesday 27th October 2023, the Port Loko Catholic Secondary School (PLCSS) was crowned champion of the 2023 inter secondary school football competition in Port Loko District.

Their victory came after a narrow 5 goals to 4 defeat over Schlenker Secondary School on a post-match penalty at the pastoral center playing field.

The inter-secondary school gala competition is a league that was organized by the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE) in Port Loko District. The highly anticipated final attracted a very great attendance of spectators including parents, school authorities, old and continuing pupils, and football patronizers.

Schlenker Secondary School, which holds the record as the eighteenth-time winner of the league, failed to secure this year’s trophy allowing PLCSS to reach it ninth school league trophy and marks their fourth consecutive winning.

In this year’s school league, eight schools including Free Pentecostal Mission Academy, Schlenker Secondary School, Movement of Faith Mapatheh, Movement of Faith Kambia road, Educaid, Johanna Kuyevenhoven School, PLCSS, Maforki Agricultural Islamic Secondary School were set to battle for the supremacy.

As this thrilling competition ends, a host of dignitaries graced the occasion including the Mayor of the Port Loko Municipality, the Deputy Director of MBSSE, the Former Port Loko District Council Chairman, the secretary of the North-West Region Football Association (NWRFA) and many others.
