The Leone Rock Premier League matches scheduled for today October 4, 2023 will go ahead as scheduled, the Premier League Board has said.

This follows as a legal injunction issued by the Judiciary of Sierra Leone yesterday cast doubt on the league’s scheduled kick-off.

The Judiciary of Sierra Leone, in response to an application from Kamboi Eagles, delivered a breaking news update late yesterday, temporarily halting the league matches. The official statement from the Judiciary reads: “The High Court of Sierra Leone has this evening granted an injunction against the SLFA (Sierra Leone Football Association) and the Sierra Leone Premier League Board, suspending all Premier League matches until the High Court can determine the issues of irregularities in the Sierra Leone Premier League. The application was filed by Alusine Kamara and Ahmed Musa, represented by Teddy Koroma and Associates, acting on behalf of Kamboi Eagles. The matter has been adjourned to November 10 for further proceedings. Further details will follow.”

In response to the legal injunction, the Sierra Leone Premier League Board issued a press release instructing all participating teams to continue with their fixtures. They affirmed, “The Sierra Leone Premier League Board would like to inform the public and the Premier League clubs that the games scheduled for November 4th and 5th, 2023, will proceed as originally planned.”

The conflicting directives have created uncertainty in the Sierra Leone Premier League, leaving stakeholders, players, and fans eagerly awaiting the resolution of this legal dispute. The league’s future now hangs in the balance as it navigates these unexpected legal challenges.
