Mogbwemo Queens have been crowned the champions of the maiden edition of the Sierra Leone Women’s Premeir League 2022/2023 season at the Rutile Playing field.

In March 2022, the Sierra Leone Association Football gave the Female Premier League Board the mandate headed by Asmaa James to run the league.

In the final matches today Mogewemo Queens defeated Correctional Centre Female Team 1-0.

A total of twelve female teams from five regions participated in the 2022/2023 league season.

Meanwhile, Asmaa James Chairperson of the Women’s Premier League Board had disclosed that the star prize of this year’s tournament is a Hundred Thousand Leones (NLe 100,000) for the winner and Fifty Thousand Leones (NLe 50,000) for the runner-up.

He confirmed that the trophy and medals were donated by the ex-Leone Stars player and East End Lions Director of Grassroots football Didi Abu who reside in America.
