After arriving safely with the delegation headed by Sierra Leone Football Association(SLFA Executive Committee member, Ramatu Kamara, in Cape Verde, Sierra Queens is expected to play their first game against the Gambia on Saturday, 21st January 2023.
Meanwhile, The Gambia National Women’s team, the Queen Scorpions departed Gambia on Tuesday 17th January 2023 for Cape Verde ahead of the tournament to be held in Cape Verde.
Head Coach, Mariama Boom Sowe has trimmed down her provisional squad list of 29 players to 20 players and 8 officials. The team commenced their training at the National Technical Training Centre in Old Yundum on Monday 9th January 2023.
Sierra Leone will also battle Guinea on Monday 23rd January 2023 and play their last match in the Group stage on Wednesday, 25th January 2023.
The first edition of the tournament was held in Sierra Leone in 2020 with Senegal emerging as the champions
Sierra Queens had earlier wrapped up their training at the Sierra Leone Football Academy ahead of the tournament scheduled to run from 20th January to 1st February 2023.
