Two Sierra Leonean referees, Mohamed Buzin Koroma and Abdulrahman Ballah Fofanah, are currently in Nouakchott, Mauritania, where they are representing Sierra Leone at the Confederation of African Football (Confederation of African Football) and West African Football Union (West African Football Union) Futsal Referees Course.
The intensive five-day training programme, running from June 22 to June 26, 2026, serves as an elite development platform bringing together top refereeing officials from across the sub-region. The course is designed to harmonise and enhance understanding of the laws of futsal.
Futsal, a fast-paced indoor variation of football played on a hard court, requires quick decision-making, sharp positioning, and strong technical awareness from match officials. The CAF/WAFU course is structured to strengthen these competencies among participating referees.
According to the Sierra Leone Football Association (Sierra Leone Football Association), their participation reflects the association’s ongoing commitment to developing match officials and improving refereeing standards across all formats of the game.
The SLFA has extended its support to the two referees and expressed confidence in their ability to represent Sierra Leone effectively throughout the training programme in Mauritania.
