In an inter-area sport meet organized by the Children Advocacy and Accountability Network (CAAN), Saidu B Sesay has been recognized as the fastest sprinter in the municipality of Port Loko.

Sesay narrowly clinched the fastest sprinter recognition in the event which took place at the EBK campus field on the 14th  February, 2024.

The event showcased fierce battle between the Central, Sendugu and Magbayni communities with old Port Loko failing to honour it invitation.

Sesay, the young athlete displayed an impressive performance in the hundred meters senior boys race out speeding his contenders and attracting cheering moments for his fans.

The sprinter expressed joy for his accomplishment after rigorous coaching and consistent training according to him. In an interview with this medium after the event, Sesay cheerfully stated: ” i feel so happy, because it is really not easy to go through trainings.”

Hailed from the Kambia Road, Sesay represented Sendugu in the competition. He is a natural runner who has participated in several sport meets including boxing day competition in Bo and Kambia.

Sesay dedicated his achievement to his mother and his mentor. According to him, the secret behind his success is his continuous training and motivation from his mentor ‘Bolt’. He said  ‘Bolt’ inspires him whenever he watches his video on the internet, adding that he always learn from his techniques in winning fastest runner and applys them in his training.

The sport meet marked the first inter-area sport in 2024 igniting large attendance by local residents, stakeholders and personalities in and around Port Loko City. It ended with Sendugu Community emerging as champion against the two other communities of the Municipality.
