Sierra Leone’s Leone Stars have defeated the Gambia National Team in an international friendly played today October 9, 2021 in Morocco.
The match ended 2-1 in favour of Sierra Leone with goals from
Gambia opened the scoring with a penalty in the 22nd minute of the game but saw resistance from the Sierra Leone national team who were able to score twice before the end of the first half.
The Match was part of the three friendlies scheduled for the Leone Stars as part of the teams’ preparations for the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon, where Sierra Leone have been paired with defending champion Algeria, two-time winner Ivory Coast, and previous host Equatorial Guinea.
The three international friendlies are against The Gambia, South Sudan, and Morocco on October 6th, 9th, and 12th, 2021, respectively in Casablanca Morocco.
The first friendly with South Sudan on October 6th ended in a 1-1 draw.
