A 20-person contingent from Sierra Leone departed for Baku, Azerbaijanon Wednesday to participate in the 2nd Baku Gym For All International Challenge, taking place on June 1st and 2nd.

The group, consisting of 14 athletes, 4 officials, National Sports Authority (NSA) Director Victor Hasting Spaine, and Federation media representative Barrie Alpha, will join roughly 60 teams from Azerbaijan and other countries in this gymnastics festival designed for all ages and abilities.

This two-day event promises a vibrant atmosphere filled with master classes, team parades, and entertainment programs suitable for all age groups. Competitions will be held in two age categories: under 50 and over 50. The venue for the event is Baku Boulevard, located behind the Azerbaijan State Puppet Theatre.

“Our collective aim is to support performing sports disciplines, thereby creating opportunities and jobs for young people,” said a spokesperson for the Sierra Leone delegation.

The event is hosted by the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation (AGF), founded in 1956 and overseeing seven gymnastics disciplines recognized by the International Federation of Gymnastics (FIG). The AGF has undergone a significant revival since 2002, restructuring itself to elevate the sport of gymnastics in Azerbaijan. Their commitment to high-level organization has garnered international recognition.

The National Gymnastics Arena, known for its exceptional facilities and spectator-friendly environment, is expected to provide the perfect setting for this prestigious sporting event.
