Sierra Leone has been given the green light to host the 2024 WAFU Zone A Women’s Champions League qualifiers, according to WAFU Zone A Executive Director Mapathe Gaye.
The decision comes after a successful inspection of facilities in Bo City, including the stadium, training pitch, and accommodations.
The tournament will be held from August 2nd to 11th, 2024, and will see 6-8 female league champion clubs from WAFU A member associations battle it out for regional glory.
Meanwhile, Guinea and Senegal have thrown their hats in the ring to host the WAFU A U17 zonal qualifiers after The Gambia withdrew due to logistical challenges, specifically the lack of an MRI scan machine in Banjul.
The WAFU A secretariat will announce the new host in the coming weeks. The qualifiers, which serve as a stepping stone to the CAF U17 tournament, were originally scheduled for October 20th to November 3rd, 2024, in The Gambia.
