TheSierra Leone Premier League has entered into a partnership with the Leone Rock Metal Group for the upcoming 2023/2024 league season.

The collaboration, established through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), was officially signed at the Raddison Blu Hotel amidst a significant gathering, including the Minister of Sports, the Executive Director of the National Sport Authority, the Vice President of SLFA, and other notable figures in the football and mining sectors.

As part of the MOU, the Leone Rock Metal Group has committed to a sponsorship package worth eighty thousand ($80,000) United States dollars. Additionally, the deal encompasses referees’ officiating kits, monthly awards for outstanding players and coaches, and an exclusive renaming right which will see the league adopt the title “Leone Rock Premier League.”

Victor Lewis, the Chairman of the Premier League Board, expressed his gratitude towards the Leone Rock Metal Group for their steadfast support of football in Sierra Leone. He didn’t miss the chance to convey his hopes to the government for more significant financial backing, pointing out the decreasing trend of support in recent years. Lewis specifically addressed the Minister of Sports, urging her to convey their appeal to the President, Dr. Julius Maada Bio.

Harold Nat Johnson, the Vice President 1 of the Sierra Leone Football Association, echoed similar sentiments, acknowledging the timeliness and necessity of such sponsorships amidst the financial challenges facing the sport.

Highlighting the Leone Rock Metal Group’s commitment to the sport, the Chief Technical Officer, Salim Sillah, detailed their journey in promoting football within Sierra Leone.
