The Sierra Leone Women’s Premier League Board has announced that the 2024/25 season will kick off on December 21 in Kenema, Eastern Province.

The Board’s Chairperson, Catherine Sillah made this announcement on Friday, November 29.

As a way of modernising the women’s game, Sillah said that all matches this upcoming season will be played on artificial turfs across various towns and cities in the country including Bo, Freetown, Kenema and Port Loko.

The Chairperson also informed the gathering the league will see 12 teams compete for the grand prize of 400 million Leones and 300 million Leones for runners-up.

Sillah also highlighted that the forthcoming season will make use of proper player data management and transfer regulations through the use of the FIFA Connect training to ensure transparency and accountability during the transfer season.

Meanwhile, the Board appreciated the Sierra Leone government for supporting women’s football in the country.

Last season, the league ended with Mogbwemo Queens from Moyamba crowned champions of the competition. The competition, which was inaugurated about two years ago has been receiving increased attention from sports lovers in the country.
