The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has taken a significant step towards protecting players, particularly girls and vulnerable individuals, by hosting a safeguarding workshop in Bo City.
The event, organized in collaboration with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the West African Football Union (WAFU A), brought together over 40 participants, including players, coaches, and team administrators from the CAF Women’s African Champions League Zone A qualifiers and local clubs.
The workshop, facilitated by CAF-certified Safeguarding Officer Madam Fatou Ndong and Madam Mariem Tall from Mauritania, focused on providing participants with essential knowledge and tools to create a safe environment within the sport.
The interactive session encouraged open dialogue, allowing attendees to address concerns and seek clarification on safeguarding matters.
SLFA President Thomas Daddy Brima expressed his enthusiasm for the initiative, highlighting its importance in strengthening football in the country. “We are committed to creating a safe and inclusive environment for all players,” Brima said. “This workshop is a crucial step towards achieving that goal.”
The workshop is part of ongoing efforts to prioritize player welfare and protection across African football.
