Newly elected Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) President Babadi Kamara has pledged to priorities gender equality in football, calling for equal investment, visibility, and opportunities for female players.
In his first public address since taking office on August 6, Kamara stated that women’s football should receive the same level of support as the men’s game. He emphasized that providing resources and platforms for female athletes was essential for the sport’s growth.
Kamara also highlighted grassroots development as a central focus of his administration, noting that nurturing young talent nationwide is crucial for future competitiveness at continental and global levels.
On infrastructure, he said the SLFA would work with corporate bodies, the government, and international partners to improve playing facilities, citing poor pitch conditions and limited resources as ongoing challenges.
The SLFA President further outlined his ambition for Sierra Leone’s national teams, including the Leone Stars, to become disciplined, competitive, and respected symbols of national pride.
His remarks have been received positively by fans, players, and stakeholders, raising expectations for a new era in Sierra Leonean football.
